Sony release a new Playstation 2.. yup you heard it right.. They are brining out a new Playstation 2, Well in Japan anyway and they believe it will outsell the ps3

It's getting to the point of being ridiculous bringing out an "all new console" after so long. Sony are a total joke bringing this out considering there's not that much coming out on the PS2 any more.

ah thats in this country fuzzy but consoles like that will always have a strong fan base and that in japan for years to come! Look at the dream cast.. its still going and games are still being made for it

They are going to fully support the ps2 for at least 3 more years. they sell more ps2's than mircosoft sell 360's.

Its their main source of profit in their gaming divison. And they have a 120 million install base, you hardly expect them to give up the glory of years gone past do you

Yeah an American console just won't sell well in Japan because the games they want are on the PS3/Wii generally.

I think this is a bit of a joke from Sony. Its basically an admission that the PS3 is selling a lot less than they hoped that they are trying to continue the PS2 now.

All these changes in strategy also show they have no idea what to do to turn around the PS3's fortunes. Anyway I said before the PS3 launched it would do badly and that the 360 and Wii would sell well. Looks like I was right so far and I hope I'm right in the end because they have done the best job with their consoles.

The PS3 is impressive but it lacks games and it released too late to capture the market IMO.
